A Day in the life of Snug Date 11/01/10 Fitting Belgravia.
Date 11/01/10
Monday morning cold and still snow on the ground!!!
first job of the day was fitting made to measure Roman Blinds in a bay window. The windows were upvc ones and I had to screw into the frames as no space was available above. You actually get a very good fix into upvc. Blinds look great customer very happy.
Went to my next call to fit a Belgravia antique brass pole on a Patio door. I can honestly say the Belgravia pole is the best pole on the market for the price a 29mm pole with fantastic sturdy brackets. This pole can be cut down to any size and is available in many finishes, anyway I am diversifying. Very straight forward job drilling into a wooden lintel. This was a new house but sometimes the builders put a piece of timber in front of the steel lintel so you can get a good fix for the brackets.

Curtains and Blinds 7/01/10

Posted by snug concepts on January 8, 2010

A Day in the life of Snug Date 7/01/10 Vertical Blind.

Only a few jobs today – The snow was amazing but not for getting to our customers.
1. Went to my first customers house had to fit a large 89” vertical blind into a concrete lintel, this is top fixing very difficult to drill, you have to be patient and the drill will do the work. Using the correct raw plugs and screws for the job and you get a very good fix which will never come down. The blind vanes were made out of soft plastic as the room I was putting it in suffered badly with condensation. Customer very happy so she doesn’t need to clean the blind.
2. The next job was re-cording a piece of swish plastic track which had broken through wear and tear. The curtains were high up so a large pair of ladders were needed. Had to take the curtains off the track, and then take the track down. The fault was a sharp piece of plastic in the cord runner. I shortened the cord and filed down the sharp plastic. Excellent the track was working perfectly, so I put up the track and re-hung the curtains. Another delighted customer who didn’t need to pay for a new track.
Snow started to come down so called it a day and came home.

Skylight Blind Installation guide into Velux windows

Posted by snug concepts on May 20, 2009

At last we can bring you a definitive guide to installing our Skylight blinds for Velux windows. If you would like a more comprehensive guide then please visit our web site.

Some modern Velux windows are installed with a grey plastic bracket pre-installed. It is a requirement of the Sunflex product that this is removed. If your window does not have the bracket pre-installed move to step 3.

1) Any existing brackets should be removed by levering a chisel or other suitable flat blade under the plastic for those that are pushed into position or unscrewed as necessary. The existing bracket will pop off but may leave the push fit lugs in the frame. The frame may be constructed with soft wood and the blade may slightly dent the frame when levering the bracket off. The new bracket and blind assembly will cover these marks.

2) Provided the lugs are relatively flush with the frame surface they can be left as they are. If they have popped out slightly either remove completely or just tap them flush.

3) Screw the Sunflex brackets into position on both sides of the window, as shown below. The long thin piece of plastic will butt up against the glass.

4) Simply slide the blind upwards into the brackets. The blind will “click” into position.

5) Slide one of the aluminium side channels into a position under the top bar as shown in the photo. Making sure that the plastic edge of the bottom draw bar of the blind enters the recessed channel.

6) Attach one of the cord clips to the bottom of the side channel. The tension on the cord will be sufficient to hold the side channel in place against the top bar.

7) Push the side channel into place so that the bottom edge is flush with the frame. The thin plastic tab on the end of the cord clip will get bent under. Now Screw the side channel into place making sure the side channel remains flush with the frame.

8 ) Screw the side channel into place making sure the side channel remains flush with the frame.

9) Slide the remaining aluminium side channel into a position as shown in the photo. Making sure that the plastic edge of the bottom draw bar of the blind enters the recessed channel.

10) As per step 6 on other side attach the remaining cord clip to the bottom of the side channel as shown. The tension on the cord will be sufficient to hold the side channel in place against the top bar.

11) As per step 7 on other side Push the side channel into place so that the bottom edge is flush with the frame. The thin plastic tab on the end of the cord clip will get bent under. Now Screw the side channel into place making sure the side channel remains flush with the frame.

13) To avoid problems of fabric puckering always us two hands to raise and lower the blind, one on either side of the bar, or raise and lower from the center of the bar rather than one edge.

Blackout Roller Blinds

Posted by snug concepts on March 15, 2009

At Snug Concepts we appreciate that there are many choices when thinking about what to use for window decoration and how it can be overwhelming of which too choose.

As we have said previously roller blinds are not new but with the choices of colours and decorative features like the Geo roller blind you can have a fashionable and affordable window treatment in a short time.

However if you are like me and sometimes like to take a nap in the afternoon or like my wife who is a light sleeper then a black out blind is for you. These come in a choice of either patterned blackout blind or plain blackout blind. Either way the end result is a simple but clean look that offers a great way to block out the light.

Another major advantage of the these types of roller blinds is that they stop a lot of heat escaping from the room. Being made from a multi layer fabric gives superb thermal qualities. So, even if you want curtains at the window, adding blackout blinds as a secondary thermal barrier can help keep those heating bills down.

Some exciting news for the web site is that we shall shortly be offering an increased range of colours and patterns within our Blackout Roller Blind section.

We already offer fantastic blackout blinds for fun rooms or kids rooms, through the Sunlover patterned blackout range and we especially like the Princess Pink and the Star blackout roller blinds. We’ll talk about these in more detail in the future along with the new products.
